MUSIC MAKER 2.0 †MUSIC MAKER‡ is a music development and experimentation system˙that allows music to be written in standard music notation on the˙graphics screen. The music editor allows blocks of notes to be˙defined and then moved, copied, erased or transposed. The entire˙piece may be transposed to any key. Music can be played on the˙computer's speaker and the music may played in any musical scale.˙Thus it is possible for a piece of music to be written in a major˙key, played and then played again in a minor key. The scales are˙not limited to the traditional western scales, but rather may be˙any possible eight tone scale. Accidentals (sharps and flats) may˙also be included in a piece of music so that the user is not˙restricted to only the eight notes of the particular scale˙chosen. Any music written with †MUSIC MAKER‡ can be saved on disk. An independent but integrated tablature program is also part of˙the complete †MUSIC MAKER‡ system. Tablature shows the string and˙fret position for the notes to be played on a fretted string˙instrument. Any tune written with †MUSIC MAKER‡ in standard musical˙notation can be saved as a tablature file. The ˆTAB‡ package will˙then allow the user to see the tablature fingering for that piece˙of music for ‚any‡ fretted stringed instrument in ‚any‡ tuning. Pre- defined tunings are for Mandolin, Mandola, Six String˙Guitar and Twelve String Guitar. Alternate tunings can be defined˙so that a musician may easily translate the fingerings for a˙piece of music known on one instrument, say a six string guitar,˙to any other instrument, for example a cittern (tuned A D A D),˙mandolin or for an open tuning on the guitar. The ˆTAB‡ program allows the tablature to be edited and transposed.˙Used in conjunction with †MUSIC †MAKER‡, ˆTAB‡ provides a powerful˙system for the string instrument player. Transcribe a jazz tune˙from sheet music, translate it to tablature, select the best˙tablature (key) for guitar fingerings, generate the fingerings˙appropriate to bass and mandolin, and produce your own tablature˙sheet music. ˆTAB‡ can function as a stand-alone program and the user may write˙music in tablature if that is a more convenient way in which to˙enter a piece of music rather than in conventional music˙notation. The †MUSIC MAKER‡ system is designed for the Texas Instrument˙Professional Computer and requires 256K RAM, one but preferably˙two disk drives or hard disk, three plane graphics board and can˙accept input from the keyboard. A colour monitor is a useful˙addition as is a printer, but neither is necessary. The †MUSIC MAKER‡ system sells for $78. /*Pmm.pic:MM Screen,Rtab.pic:TAB Screen 78.00
